Fit, Fun Run 2026
McMillan’s annual Fit, Fun Run is here!
We’re excited to continue this beloved tradition!
We want to give a huge thank-you to Miss Angie Thompson for organizing it each year.
All students are encouraged to walk or run 1, 2, or 3 miles. Kindergarten parents are strongly encouraged to participate with their child to help them follow the route and signs. Permission slips will be sent home with each student.
The run starts and ends at McMillan, beginning north on Fashion Blvd. While a detailed route map isn’t being shared for safety reasons, there will be plenty of signs and volunteers along the way, plus support from the Murray Police Department to ensure student safety.
Each student will receive a free Fit, Fun Run shirt (designed by a McMillan student) and provided by Dr. Dolata and Mrs. Bigelow. Please send your child in comfortable socks and running shoes. Sunscreen and water are recommended, though there will be two water stations, and every student will receive a free Creamie at the finish.
Thank you to Creamies for their donation!
After attendance and preparation, students will leave with their classes, led by older student runners and community volunteers. We have some amazing runners come to help make sure that no one is running unsupervised. We also deeply appreciate the Officers with Murray Police Department that come to provide assistance and safety for our students from start to finish.
Many parents park at the LDS church on Fashion Blvd and join the run from there. You’re welcome to:
- Start near McMillan outside - please do not go in to the building
- Join anywhere along the route
Please note: Parking at McMillan is limited, so plan accordingly.
I always drop my kids off at school and then go to the LDS church mentioned to park my car and get ready to join my kids in the run! Many parents do the same and often bring pets or younger siblings in strollers or on small bikes. It feels like we are all ready to go around 9:00 but it takes a little while after that for the students to arrive.
After the race, students will finish by running through the finish line arch on the field. If you’re not participating, feel free to wait there to cheer and take pictures. Arriving around 9:15 AM should allow you to catch the earliest finishers. I will tell you that there are some FASSSST kids (and teachers!) I believe that all students are generally done by 10:30 -11:00 at the latest each year.
We hope this helps you know what to expect and that you’ll join us for this fun tradition!
