November: Celebrating Native American Heritage Month at McMillan Elementary

 November is Native American Heritage Month!

This month, we celebrate and honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native

American and Indigenous peoples across the United States.

At McMillan, we believe that learning about and respecting all cultures helps our students grow

as curious, compassionate, and inclusive learners. Throughout November, consider exploring stories, traditions, art, and community connections that highlight the incredible diversity

and strength of Native American heritage.

Why It Matters

Native American Heritage Month reminds us of the importance of listening, learning, and
showing gratitude for the cultures that have shaped our land and history. When students learn
about Native American communities, they also learn about respect, stewardship, family, and the
importance of belonging.

Families are encouraged to join in celebrating Native American Heritage Month! You can:
 Share stories, art, or traditions from your family’s culture.
 Read a book together from the Murray Library or Scholastic list.
 Visit the Tracy Aviary event or the Native Voices exhibit at the NHMU.
 Talk with your children about the value of community, respect, and learning from others.
Every family adds something unique and beautiful to our school. Together, we create a
community built on curiosity, kindness, and appreciation for all cultures.
